Construction of the 112-room Residence Inn by Marriott – Mueller Austin is scheduled to begin in December of 2011. This extended stay, limited service lodging facility will contain a breakfast/dining area, outdoor pool, outdoor whirlpool, an exercise room and sports courts. There will be a business center, market pantry, vending area and a guest laundry room. The facility will have some 73 parking spaces with additional parking available in the shopping center next door. The project will contain 82,147 square feet and will be 4 stories in height.
The project is being constructed at Mueller, the former Robert Mueller Municipal Airport. Mueller is an award-winning, 711-acre; master-planned community at the heart of one of the country’s fastest growing cities, Austin, Texas. Located three miles from downtown Austin and the State Capital, two miles from the University of Texas; Mueller is one of Central Austin’s last remaining large-scale properties available for development. A major landmark of the Mueller community is the Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas and the surrounding health campus.
Our development partner, Medical Hospitality Group, LLC, based in Dallas, Texas purchased the land from Catellus Austin LLC. The Austin Mueller project is a Public/Private development between the City of Austin and Catellus.
Benchmark Development Corporation, also based in Dallas, will serve as the project’s General Contractor. Benchmark Development has built projects on a national basis since 1971. Benchmark is a licensed general contractor in many states and takes pride in the fact that they conduct business in California, Arizona, Utah and Florida; states that many in the industry consider “very difficult”. Benchmark Development enjoys an excellent reputation within the industry and is known for providing quality work while completing projects on time and within budget. The majority of Benchmark Development’s business is based on repeat customers which are regional and or national hospitality chains. Construction of the Residence Inn will require approximately 14 months.
InterMountain Management, LLC will be managing the Residence Inn – Austin Mueller. InterMountain Management owns and operates premium brand hotel properties located in 23 states nationwide. InterMountain was founded in 1982 by Mr. Dewey Weaver. Since then, they have performed development and management of over 70 premium branded hotels across the country.
Mr. Weaver heads a management team with extremely diverse backgrounds and an average of 25+ years experience in the hospitality industry. InterMountain management believes there is no substitute for experience. Their seasoned team has been involved in property improvement plans, conversions, openings, and renovations. Multi-brand management certification cross training also contributes to the company’s success.
